Maurizio Sarri has opted to step down from his position at Lazio due to their recent poor performance, informing the club’s management of his decision.

Lazio suffered their 12th defeat of the Serie A season on Monday night, losing 2-1 to Udinese, a team battling relegation, at the Stadio Olimpico. The atmosphere was tense at the end of the match, with the remaining fans booing the squad as they left the pitch.

Following this disappointing result, Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani convened the squad for a training camp, hoping to spark a turnaround in their form for the remaining 10 games of the season. Despite their struggles in the league, the club remains in contention for the Coppa Italia and is set to face Juventus in the semi-finals next month.

Reports from Fabrizio Romano, Calciomercato.com, and La Lazio Siamo Noi confirm that Sarri has chosen to resign from his position at Lazio, immediately vacating his role at the club.

After Lazio’s loss to Udinese, Sarri held a tense meeting with the squad to address their dip in form. Although none of the players explicitly demanded his departure, none actively advocated for him to remain in charge, prompting him to submit his resignation.
