Leon Goretzka added a second six minutes later before Nadiem Amiri pulled one back for Mainz. Kane then notched his second just before halftime. After the break, Thomas Muller, Musiala, and Serge Gnabry added to Mainz’s misery. Kane completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute, heading in at the far post, while Goretzka rounded off the rout in stoppage time. Despite his impressive performance, Kane’s hat-trick didn’t meet the German criteria for a “true hat-trick,” as he didn’t score three goals in the same half and consecutively.
Nevertheless, Kane now has 36 goals in 34 matches in all competitions for Bayern, highlighting his remarkable impact since joining the club. The emphatic victory sees Bayern close the gap on league leaders Bayer Leverkusen to just seven points, keeping alive their hopes of reclaiming the Bundesliga title under manager Xabi Alonso.
