Fans were left puzzled by Jordan Henderson’s enthusiastic celebration of winning a throw-in during Ajax’s match against FC Utrecht. The England star, wearing the captain’s armband for Ajax, displayed intense determination in leading a solo press against Utrecht. In a video shared by Ajax’s official account, the 33-year-old chased down a loose ball deep into the Utrecht half.
Eventually pressuring Utrecht goalkeeper Mattijs Branderhorst into mishitting his clearance and conceding a throw-in. Henderson’s passionate celebration, which included fist-pumping and screaming, surprised fans, considering the routine nature of the play. Some fans took to social media to express their amusement, with one commenting, “Possibly the most ‘Jordan Henderson’ thing I have ever seen.”
Others jokingly suggested that Henderson’s effort could earn him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros this summer. Henderson joined Ajax in January after his time in Saudi Arabia ended, and he has since become a regular feature in manager John van ‘t Schip’s side, even captaining the team in his last two league appearances.
