The ex-Manchester United winger, who relocated to Asia for the first time in his career this January, marked his debut for FC Seoul, his new club, during Saturday’s K-League opener. Entering the field as a substitute in the 77th minute while the team trailed by a goal, he experienced a defeat in his inaugural game in South Korea when Gwangju netted a second goal in added time.

Greeted with enthusiastic cheers from the fans in the stadium, the 31-year-old took to the field in place of Kim Gyeong-min. Prior to Saturday’s match, the former England international participated in friendly encounters for Seoul during the pre-season, even scoring a goal in the 11-1 victory against the Japanese university side Kanoya.

Reportedly declining 26 offers from various clubs worldwide, the winger eventually signed for the Korean club after being a free agent for over six months since departing Nottingham Forest in the summer.

Lingard is set to feature in his next match on Sunday as FC Seoul squares off against Incheon in their second league fixture of the season.
