The billionaire behind INEOS finalized a £1.25 billion partial acquisition of the Red Devils in December, with the deal officially approved late last month. According to the Independent, this injection of fresh investment brought added dynamism in January, resulting in four consecutive Premier League victories. Nonetheless, the report notes that a newly acquired player at United noticed a deficiency in strong personalities within the team, while another teammate observed that only three players were vocal during training sessions.

Ratcliffe has previously expressed ambitions of dethroning Manchester City and Liverpool from their dominant positions in English football, signaling positive intentions for a club aspiring for progress. However, he has criticized United’s transfer strategies in recent years, highlighting the considerable distance still to cover in pursuit of these objectives. The environment preceding his involvement has been likened to that of the civil service, suggesting potential inefficiency and bureaucracy within the club. Ratcliffe is likely to push for changes, with his inner circle reportedly admiring former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, potentially casting doubts on Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford.

Since Ratcliffe’s integration into the United setup, he has been actively involved, swiftly appointing Omar Berrada as chief executive, who previously served at Manchester City. Efforts are underway to bring in Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United to assume the role of technical director.

Ten Hag’s United, despite a recent setback with a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham at Old Trafford, had their winning streak ended. They now face a crucial fixture against rivals and reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.
