The 76-year-old experienced a health setback during a recent training session, resulting in hospitalization and his subsequent decision to step down from the managerial position to make way for Oliver Glasner. Currently recuperating at home, Hodgson is considering reentering the football sphere, possibly in a consultancy capacity, and is open to opportunities both domestically and internationally.

His second stint at his childhood club appeared to be nearing its end before illness intervened, prompting an amicable separation. Despite initial concerns over his health, Hodgson, known for his resilience, has bounced back and is already exploring future endeavors.

Hodgson’s extensive coaching journey commenced in 1976 with Halmstad in Sweden, where he secured two league titles. His career has taken him across various countries including Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Norway, and Finland, before returning to England. Notable managerial roles at Fulham, Liverpool, and West Bromwich Albion culminated in his appointment as England manager in 2012.

Hodgson would have undoubtedly been pleased with his former team’s triumph over Burnley under Glasner’s leadership at Selhurst Park. With his wealth of experience, it’s only a matter of time before Hodgson receives offers and returns to the football arena.
