Bordeaux’s Alberth Elis was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on the pitch due to a head injury during a Ligue 2 clash against Guingamp. The 28-year-old suffered a serious blow to the head from an accidental clash with Guingamp’s Donatien Gomis just 34 seconds into the game. Elis received treatment on the pitch for eight minutes before being stretchered off, surrounded by visibly distressed teammates.

Bordeaux confirmed on social media that he was transported to the hospital for medical examinations. Reports indicate that Elis was conscious during the journey but suffered severe head trauma and was placed into an induced coma. Currently undergoing treatment in Bordeaux with his parents by his side, Elis’ condition remains a concern. Bordeaux managed to win the game 1-0, with manager Albert Riera dedicating the victory to Elis and midfielder Gaetan Weissbeck also paying tribute to him in a post-match interview.

Elis, who has scored five goals in 18 league games for Bordeaux this season, started his career with CD Olimpia in Honduras before moving to Monterrey in Mexico. He has since played for Houston, Boavista, and Brest on loan before joining Bordeaux permanently. With 64 caps for the Honduran national team, Elis remains a key figure in both club and international football.
