West Ham Resumes Talks To Sign Struggling Ex Celtic Forward Jota

West Ham United has reportedly reopened negotiations to sign Portuguese forward Jota from Al-Ittihad. The 24-year-old winger, who moved to the Saudi Pro League champions for £25 million in July, has faced challenges as Al-Ittihad failed to register him to play in the league due to foreign player quota restrictions. Jota has not featured in the Saudi Pro League since September, playing only in the AFC Champions League and Club World Cup.

West Ham’s interest in Jota comes as a potential loan move, with discussions ongoing. However, there are complications related to tax issues, as Jota would have to address significant tax payments to HMRC upon returning to the UK after earning a tax-free salary in the Middle East.

Positive talks have reportedly taken place between the clubs, and Jota is awaiting approval to travel to the UK for a medical examination with West Ham. If the deal materializes, Jota would join a growing list of European-based players expressing dissatisfaction with their experiences in Saudi Arabia.

Here is the highlight video of Jota’s skills.
