Newcastle's Isaac Hayden To Sue Prospective Everton Owners For Unpaid Wages At Standard Liege

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden, who recently terminated his loan at Standard Liege to return to Eddie Howe’s side, has revealed his intention to sue prospective Everton owners 777 Partners for unpaid wages during his time at the Belgian club. Hayden, 28, criticized Standard Liege, calling it a “disaster” due to delays and non-payment of salaries. Hayden, who made 11 appearances on loan at Standard Liege, left the club earlier this month, citing payment issues as the primary reason.

In an interview with a Belgian reporter, Hayden expressed his dissatisfaction, stating that he waited a month to receive his November salary, and the December salaries had not been paid by the end of January. He announced his decision to initiate legal proceedings against Standard Liege to claim the wages owed to him, including bonuses that were not paid. While 777 Partners remains confident about completing the Everton takeover by the end of January, recent developments have cast doubt on the deal’s viability.

The Bermuda Monetary Authority placed one of 777 Partners’ subsidiaries, 777Re, under administration, restricting access to approximately £2.4 billion in finances crucial for the takeover. Concerns over whether 777 founders Josh Wander and Steven Pasko would pass the Premier League’s fit and proper person test had already arisen. Although 777 Partners received approval from the Financial Conduct Authority, audited accounts crucial for the takeover process are yet to be submitted to the Premier League, causing further delays.
