Dusan Vlahovic propelled Juventus to a victory over Sassuolo, narrowing the gap to Serie A leaders Inter Milan to just two points with his impressive double on Tuesday. The Serbian striker scored two stunning goals from a distance in the first half at Turin’s Allianz Stadium, securing Juve’s sixth consecutive win across all competitions and maintaining the pressure on their intense rivals, Inter.

Expressing satisfaction with the team’s performance, Vlahovic said, “We try to prepare every match as if it were our last… we’re happy with the win, let’s hope we can keep going,” in an interview with DAZN.

Vlahovic, 23, opened the scoring in the 15th minute, finding himself unmarked near the edge of the penalty area, and his dipping shot eluded Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli. Just eight minutes before halftime, he extended his league goal tally to nine with a remarkable free-kick that once again left Consigli helpless.

Despite Juventus not delivering an exceptionally impressive display, Sassuolo failed to generate enough opportunities. Federico Chiesa secured the victory in the 89th minute with his sixth goal of the season, ensuring Juventus collected all three points.

Acknowledging Chiesa’s contribution, Vlahovic commented, “I’m pleased Federico scored, he deserved it. We’ve known each other a long time and we’re good friends, the goal will help him.” Emphasizing the team’s collective success, he added, “But who scores is not important, it’s that we win matches.”

Looking ahead, Juventus has the opportunity to claim the top spot over the weekend as they face Lecce on Sunday, while Inter participates in the revamped Italian Super Cup in Riyadh. Inter’s upcoming schedule includes a semi-final match against Lazio on Thursday, and even if they lose, they won’t play their previously scheduled clash with Atalanta until the end of February. A crucial match against Juventus at the San Siro in early February could play a pivotal role in the title race, as Juventus continues to be a formidable force, consistently winning matches despite not reaching the performance levels achieved by Inter.
