Joelinton, along with his family, observed the match at St. James’ Park while he recovered from a thigh issue. Witnessing the Magpies suffer a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the reigning champions, their ordeal escalated after the game. According to The Daily Mail, Joelinton received an alert during the match indicating that intruders were entering his home. Police were notified, and a helicopter was dispatched.

In a statement, Northumbria Police confirmed that the burglars had fled Joelinton’s residence in Darras Hall. The statement on Sunday revealed, “Shortly before 7.30pm yesterday [Saturday], police received a call from a concerned homeowner reporting three men inside their home in Darras Hall.” Fortunately, Joelinton and his family were not home, having received a security alert on their phone and promptly informing the police. Although police were deployed to the scene, the suspects had already fled. Ongoing inquiries encourage anyone with information to contact the police.

Contrary to Joelinton’s fortunate absence during the burglary, his Saturday opponent, Jack Grealish, was not as lucky. The City winger experienced a £1 million ($1.27m) jewellery theft on Boxing Day at his Cheshire residence, with his fiancée and family present during the raid. This incident adds to a series of Premier League burglaries in recent months, involving players like Kevin De Bruyne, Victor Lindelof, and Joao Cancelo, who was targeted during his time at City over the past year.

While Joelinton’s family was spared from a terrifying experience, the investigation into the alleged perpetrators continues. On the field, Joelinton is focused on regaining full fitness, as Eddie Howe’s struggling Newcastle side now sits just one point above the Premier League bottom half after the defeat to City.
