Inter Milan recently completed the signing of Tajon Buchanan from Club Brugge, marking a significant moment as he becomes the inaugural Canadian player to join Italy’s prestigious Serie A. The 24-year-old, known for his versatility, inked a four-and-a-half-year deal, reportedly for around seven million euros ($7.69 million) with the potential for an additional three million euros in bonuses, as stated by Italian media.

Buchanan boasts an international track record, having represented Canada in 35 matches and notably starting in all three group-stage games during the 2022 World Cup. During his stint with Brugge this season, he contributed with 12 league appearances and netted two goals.

Expressing his pride, Buchanan shared his sentiments on Inter’s platform, stating, “I’m really proud to be the first Canadian to play in the Italian league, it’s a great achievement that makes me very proud,” He also expressed his longstanding admiration for Inter, declaring, “I’ve been following Inter for a long time, it’s a team I see myself in, I’m really excited about what awaits me.”

Inter currently holds the top spot in the Serie A standings, leading Juventus by two points and is scheduled to face Hellas Verona in their upcoming fixture on Saturday.
