The French football star, who lifted the World Cup, is inching closer to leaving Paris Saint-Germain as his contract approaches its end, paving the way for a potential move into free agency. While a transfer to Santiago Bernabeu has long been speculated, the powerhouse team at Anfield in the Premier League is now rumoured to be in contention.
McAllister, a former player and coach at Liverpool, shared thoughts with Boylesports, discussing the possibility of a deal: “I think clubs like Liverpool should always be there when a world superstar like Kylian Mbappe becomes available. If there’s an opportunity there, and if the Mbappe deal is in line with the budgets and how the club is run, then Liverpool should be interested as far as I’m concerned. We’ll have to see what happens style-wise. Jurgen Klopp’s style is attacking and front-foot, and it would suit Mbappe.
“The world’s top five or six clubs will always want to be involved when a player of that calibre becomes available, and Liverpool are a part of that group. Over the last few years, people have been saying that Mbappe’s next step was Real Madrid, but the link with Liverpool has also been there. Liverpool were also in the picture when Jude Bellingham was available. I can’t see a reason why they couldn’t get Mbappe if the deal worked for them.”
Mbappe has acknowledged prior discussions with Liverpool, as they hold a special place for him—being his mother’s favourite club. 2024 might mark the year when he seeks a new challenge outside France.
While Mbappe stands as PSG’s top scorer of all time, tallying 234 goals, suggestions arise that he needs to depart the Parc des Princes to emulate former teammate Lionel Messi, aiming for Ballon d’Or recognition and solidifying his status among football’s greatest.
