According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi are keen on making a Serie A return from Toronto FC. Similarly, Leonardo Bonucci, who only recently joined Union Berlin around four months back, is also eyeing a return to Italy’s top league.

The triumphant Italy Euro 2020 winners, Bernardeschi, Insigne, and Bonucci, are reportedly aiming for a Serie A comeback during the January transfer window, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Although Bernardeschi and Insigne moved to Toronto FC in 2021, and Bonucci departed Juventus for Union Berlin in September 2023, a recent report in the Pink Paper suggests their collective desire to rejoin Serie A action soon.

Bernardeschi has been associated with a potential return to Juventus and maintains a strong relationship with coach Massimiliano Allegri. However, despite Allegri’s interest, Juventus has yet to make an offer and appears hesitant to commit to a substantial salary without a significant sale in the ongoing transfer window.

La Gazzetta notes Insigne’s inclination toward a Napoli comeback, but a reunion at the Stadio Maradona seems unfeasible. Despite being a product of the club’s academy, his role as a backup for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia might pose managerial challenges for Walter Mazzarri.

Rumors have linked Lazio and Fiorentina with the Italian winger, although no formal offer has surfaced from either club.

Bonucci, on the other hand, was reportedly in discussions with Roma but faced opposition from the club’s directors due to protests from Giallorossi supporters.

Recent reports from Il Corriere dello Sport suggested that the seasoned center-back could potentially join Genoa if Radu Dragusin departs in January. However, La Gazzetta did not mention this particular option.

Clearly, Bonucci aims to secure a spot in Italy’s squad for the 2024 Euros and is actively seeking a team that can guarantee him regular playing time this month.
