Nottingham Forest is intensifying its call for the ban of referee Rob Jones after a contentious decision marred their 3-2 defeat against Bournemouth. The 36-year-old official controversially issued a second yellow card to Willy Boly for what appeared to be a clean tackle on Adam Smith, leading to widespread frustration among Forest fans.
Professional Game Match Officials Ltd acknowledged an error during the match, with chief Howard Webb contacting Forest to issue a groveling apology. Forest, however, is urging Premier League officials to take more substantial action by prohibiting Jones from officiating their games.
“It is more the frustration of knowing the approach of the referee is a bad one and the law says you cannot reverse the decision because it is two yellow cards. It is something they have to look at because it doesn’t make sense,” expressed Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest’s new manager, emphasizing the need for a more cautious and collaborative approach to refereeing decisions.

On tonight’s MOTD you’ll see Nottingham Forest’s Boly receive a 2nd yellow (and sent off) for BEING fouled. I kid you not. He plays the ball and the opposing player steps on his ankle. It is one of the worst refereeing decisions I’ve ever seen. And useless VAR can’t intervene pic.twitter.com/hHbSEMztgm
