Typically, Europe’s powerhouse teams have dismissed the Superleague concept, including founding member Atletico Madrid. They were backed by Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Roma, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich, along with numerous La Liga and Segunda clubs, all expressing their opposition to the proposed Superleague.
However, according to Sport referencing ANSA’s report from Italy, Napoli’s president Aurelio di Laurentiis has shown a favourable view of the Superleague ruling. He remains open to discussions about the Superleague, despite previously advocating for an open format.
A22 unveiled their project, pledging free game streaming but implementing a system where teams can only qualify for the third tier of European football based on their domestic performance. Nevertheless, with the vast majority of clubs opposing this move, it appears that A22 will need to persuade other clubs significantly to make the league a viable venture.
