David Beckham seems to be considering a stake in a Premier League team, but notably, it won’t involve his former club, Manchester United. Beckham, an iconic figure from his 11-year tenure at Old Trafford, emerged from the celebrated ‘Class of 92’ alongside renowned players like Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, and Nicky Butt.

Despite ventures at Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, and AC Milan, Beckham’s association with Old Trafford persisted post-retirement in 2013. Previously, there were murmurs about Beckham possibly joining Manchester United’s board when Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim expressed interest in acquiring the club from the Glazer family. Talks hinted at Beckham securing an ‘International Ambassador’ position under Jassim’s ownership bid, but he exited discussions.

Presently, as billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe nears a £1.3 billion deal for a 25% United stake, Beckham is eyeing a potential minority stake elsewhere in the Premier League, with Brentford being touted as a possible choice. Brentford’s owner, Matthew Benham, has signaled openness to investment, and connections through Beckham’s son Romeo, who plays for the team’s B side, could facilitate such a deal.

A club representative emphasized the growing interest in Brentford and the evolving landscape of shareholders in the Premier League. While Benham remains committed, they acknowledged the importance of exploring new investment avenues for the club’s future. The spokesperson stressed the determination to ensure Brentford’s long-term viability and competitiveness in the highly challenging league.
