Manchester United supporters were incensed after observing the referee’s response to Cole Palmer’s leveling goal. Sharp-eyed fans noticed Chris Kavanagh sharing a laugh with the Chelsea rising star moments after he equalized. Scott McTominay had initially put Erik ten Hag’s team in the lead before Palmer scored his debut open-play goal for Chelsea.

United fans were infuriated by Kavanagh’s demeanour as he smiled and conversed with Palmer during halftime. “I saw the ref laughing with Palmer after the goal. He bleeds blue,” vented one fan.

“Why was the ref laughing with Palmer?” asked a second fan, punctuating their frustration with an angry emoji. Another exclaimed, “Referee smiling with Palmer after he scores. You can’t tell me that this ref isn’t bias!”

“Why is ref smiling his teeth out after Palmer/Chelsea equalise,” questioned a fourth fan in anger. And yet another pointed out, “Notice the ref gave Palmer a smile after the goal. Someone seems happy…:”

Palmer, who joined Chelsea during the summer, was a devoted fan of Manchester United during his childhood.

After scoring, a talkSPORT commentator remarked, “On the ground where his heroes used to play, he grew up a Manchester United fan, he marks his first appearance at his Theatre of Dreams with a very important goal.”

The match held significant importance for Ten Hag, with mounting pressure on his position as the Red Devils’ manager.
