Bellingham was substituted during the 57th minute of the match against Girona, despite having already scored twice, citing his inability to continue. Brahim Diaz replaced him. Real Madrid has officially confirmed through a statement that Bellingham has sustained a “high-grade sprain in his left ankle”.

Although they state that evaluations are still in progress, journalist Jose Luis Sanchez reports that the English star could face up to three weeks on the sidelines.

Bellingham’s injury comes at an inconvenient time for Real Madrid as they have recently extended their lead at the top of the table to five points over Girona, who are in second place. The midfielder, who has scored 20 goals this season across all competitions, might miss up to four games: RB Leipzig in the Champions League, and Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla, and Valencia in La Liga.

Bellingham has been in excellent form this season, contributing to 28 goals in just 29 games. Real Madrid possesses a strong squad, but his absence could pose challenges, particularly following the recent injury of Antonio Rudiger to a thigh.

As Bellingham focuses on his recovery, Real Madrid continues its pursuit of the title and prepares for upcoming matches in the Champions League. Their encounter with RB Leipzig is scheduled for Tuesday.
