The ex-Barcelona manager has guided Manchester City to the top of the Premier League standings after 12 matches, securing the Treble last season.

There are indications that Guardiola might conclude his tenure at the Etihad once his existing contract expires in 2025. Speculation has linked him to the England managerial position as a potential successor to Southgate.

Noel Gallagher, former Oasis member and devoted City supporter, expressed his belief that Guardiola taking charge of the England national team wouldn’t be surprising.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Gallagher shared, “I wouldn’t be surprised, or a shock to me, if he was offered and took the England job.”

“I know he loves being in England with the culture, English players and all that, but it wouldn’t be a shock to me.”

Gallagher, however, posited that Guardiola would likely consider the England role only after leaving Manchester City and taking a break. He added, “I think he would have to leave City first and probably have a break.”

“I don’t think City would allow him to leave for England, there’s no way.”

Addressing the notion of managing both England and City simultaneously, Gallagher dismissed it, stating, “City wouldn’t have that.”

Gallagher also provided his perspective on Guardiola’s future, suggesting that he envisions Guardiola retiring from City after around ten years and taking a sabbatical.

He speculated that Guardiola might not move to another league and could potentially be enticed by prestigious international positions like the Dutch, Brazil, Argentina, or England jobs.

In contemplating the England job, Gallagher highlighted the potential challenge for Guardiola, especially if England hasn’t won a trophy. He remarked, “[If he won one] He would be a god then in this country wouldn’t he.”

As of now, England’s men’s team has not secured a major trophy since the 1966 World Cup, while the Lionesses achieved success by winning the Euro’s in 2022, albeit falling to Spain in the final of this year’s World Cup.
