Ghanaian international footballer Raphael Dwamena has tragically passed away at the age of 28 after collapsing during a match, as announced by the Ghana Football Association. The association expressed condolences to Dwamena’s family, highlighting his wholehearted representation of Ghana and dedication to the national team.
While official details surrounding Dwamena’s death are yet to be released, video footage indicates that the incident occurred during an Albanian top-division match between Dwamena’s team, KF Egnatia, and Partizani. Players from both teams rushed to his side, and medical personnel attended to him on the pitch before an ambulance was brought in.
This is not the first time Dwamena experienced such an incident. In October 2021, he collapsed during a match between his then-team Blau-Weiß Linz and Hartberg in the Austrian Cup. However, he recovered and returned to action.
Throughout his career, Dwamena played for clubs in Spain, Switzerland, Austria, and Denmark. Levante, one of his former teams, expressed sincere condolences for the loss of their former player.
