As the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues, the region has witnessed significant devastation, and there is a pressing need for fundraising to assist those who have lost family members or been displaced due to the conflict.
Numerous celebrities have endorsed charities dedicated to raising funds for the affected region, and Megan Rapinoe is among them.
Nevertheless, the women’s soccer star has kept a low profile on this matter and has not posted about the Middle East conflict. Instead, she has shared a link to a charity named “Urgent Relief for Gaza’s Children.”
In an article published on Outkick, Rapinoe has come under criticism for her fundraising efforts for Gaza while remaining silent about the conflict. Some have pointed out that she is married to Sue Bird, a Jewish Israeli-American, and has not publicly commented on the Hamas terrorist attack.
David Hookstead of Outkick expressed his concern, saying, “Rapinoe, who never met a topic she didn’t want to discuss, is strangely silent when it comes to the mass killing of Jews.”
He also noted that Rapinoe has been raising money for Gaza while using a BLM (Black Lives Matter) profile picture on Instagram.
It’s worth mentioning that the BLM Chicago chapter previously posted an image that seemed to endorse individuals who entered Israel on paragliders to target civilians.
While Rapinoe, as a gay woman, might face threats in Gaza, she has not shown public support for the people of Israel.
There are no posts on her social media accounts related to Israel, Hamas, fundraising for Israelis affected by the conflict, or expressing solidarity with her wife’s Israeli citizenship and Jewish heritage.
The criticism revolves around why she is raising funds for Gaza while not publicly supporting Israel, the country to which her wife holds citizenship. This has led to questions about the consistency of her stance on these matters.
Megan Rapinoe is raising money for Gaza following Hamas terrorists murdering innocent civilians.
Rapinoe is a lesbian and would be killed for her lifestyle if she lived in Gaza.
Her wife – Sue Bird – is also an Israel-American citizen.
