Erling Haaland found himself embroiled in a heated altercation between the staff of Manchester City and Arsenal as the final whistle blew at the Emirates Stadium.

Tensions reached their breaking point as both teams and their staff were making their way off the field after the game. Haaland appeared to be restrained by members of the Manchester City staff, while security personnel kept Arsenal’s Kyle Walker separated from City’s staff.

It seemed that both Haaland and Walker were displeased with comments made by a member of Arsenal’s coaching staff as they exited the pitch. Nicolas Jover, the Gunners’ set piece coach who had previously worked for City, appeared to be at the center of the confrontation.

Amidst the escalating tempers, Phil Foden appeared to see the humor in the situation, offering a wry smile as he walked down the tunnel. Security personnel assisted both Haaland and Walker in leaving the field while ensuring there was no further confrontation between opposing players.

This incident occurred following Arsenal’s first Premier League victory over Manchester City in eight years, thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s late goal. Martinelli, who had returned from injury and entered the game at halftime, saw his shot deflect off Nathan Ake’s face, wrong-footing City goalkeeper Ederson and securing the winning goal with just five minutes left on the clock.

Last season, Arsenal gave Manchester City a run for their money in the title race, falling just short as Pep Guardiola’s side eventually secured the treble.

Arsenal’s inability to secure any points against City last season proved costly, but this time, the outcome was different, with Martinelli’s deflected strike sealing the victory.

This win also ended a streak of 12 consecutive league losses to City in this fixture.

The match appeared to be heading towards a dull goalless draw, with the decision not to send off Mateo Kovacic in the first half poised to be the main talking point.

However, Arsenal demonstrated resilience and followed up their Community Shield shootout victory over City by handing Guardiola’s team their third defeat in four matches across all competitions.

Martinelli’s performance provided an exciting conclusion to an otherwise forgettable game, and it’s worth noting that Arsenal played without their star player, Bukayo Saka.
