Jose Mourinho Wants To Work At Saudi Pro League With Cristiano Ronaldo

During the summer, the Portuguese manager received offers from a Gulf country in Asia, but despite this, he chose to stay with Roma in the Italian capital, honoring his contract that extends until 2024. His decision came after successfully guiding Roma to consecutive European finals.

In July, Mourinho took on a role on the board of directors at Mahd Academy, an institution dedicated to discovering emerging talents from the country. Now, he has openly expressed his desire to manage a club in the Middle East.

In an interview with MBC Egypt TV channel, he mentioned, “I will go to Saudi Arabia in some free time, but I am convinced that I will work there. I don’t know when, but I am pretty sure of it. Doors are always open for me in Saudi Arabia. I want to feel the development there,”

Mourinho believes that the landscape of football in the country has undergone a significant transformation, especially after the influx of players from Europe following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move in December 2022.

He explained, “Cristiano was the first to go there and give a different perspective immediately. The players thought at first that it was a one-man show but they realised in the summer that everything was really changing.”

“Many players, not just at the last period of their careers, but also some players at the best years of their careers, are coming because the competition is real, not just at domestic League, but also the AFC Champions League is very interesting,”

Despite his aspiration to manage in Saudi Arabia, Mourinho emphasized that his primary focus in the short term remains on his role at Roma. He stated, “I am committed to my work with Roma and I want to give everything to the club until the last day,”

Roma has encountered a challenging start to the season, currently occupying the 13th position with just eight points from seven matches.

They will be back in Serie A action against Cagliari on Sunday, aiming to secure three points after an impressive 4-0 victory over Servette in the Europa League.
