Newcastle stands to receive an unprecedented transfer fee if Bruno Guimaraes chooses to depart following the conclusion of his newly secured long-term contract.
The Brazilian midfielder has extended his tenure at St James’ Park until 2028 by signing a fresh five-year agreement, rumored to incorporate a £100 million release clause.
If this clause is triggered, Guimaraes would join an elite group of Premier League talents, including Philippe Coutinho, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Declan Rice, and Jack Grealish, who have all moved for nine-figure sums.
Furthermore, if such a departure occurs, it would constitute Newcastle’s highest-ever sale, far surpassing the £35 million they earned when they sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool back in 2011.
Nevertheless, there are currently limited indications that Guimaraes is inclined to pursue a move away, even if the release clause is activated.
In the wake of his contract extension in the north-east, he expressed his profound contentment with Newcastle, emphasizing that he has never felt such appreciation from a fanbase in his career.
