Andrea Pirlo, Italy’s football legend, under fire for possible termination in new role after only 9 matches as fans rally

Legendary Italian player Andrea Pirlo is apparently about to lose his job at Sampdoria.

Andrea Pirlo Might Get Sacked From Sampdoria

The previous champions of Serie A experienced a demotion to Serie B last season, and they now face the ominous possibility of consecutive relegations. Andrea Radrizzani, the former owner of Leeds United, joined a consortium that acquired the club in May. Unfortunately, the new leadership has not been able to reverse their fortunes.

In June, Pirlo took on the role of manager, but under his guidance, Sampdoria has only managed to secure one victory in the league. Currently, Sampdoria finds themselves in the 19th position on the Serie B table. As reported by Calciomercato, Pirlo is on the verge of being dismissed as a consequence.

Nonetheless, the club intends to retain him, at least until their upcoming match against Ascoli this weekend. During the recent loss to Catanzaro, Sampdoria fans began protesting.

Following the defeat, Pirlo commented, “It’s difficult to comment on these types of defeats after every game. We had taken the lead, then they managed to equalise with a half cross, with defensive indecision.”

“Everything becomes more difficult, but we must not look for alibis, we know that this is the moment.”

“We must not let our guard down, we must be more concentrated and try to get out of this situation together. We had the opportunities, but in football whoever scores goals wins and we were unable to do so.”

“The situation at the moment is this, we must try to stay united and try to get out of it quickly. We must try to be positive and not get caught up in this fear that we see and feel when we play. At the moment we are fragile and cannot win.”

Prior to his managerial career, Pirlo had a distinguished playing career with clubs such as Brescia, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus, ultimately retiring at New York City FC. He also earned 116 caps for the Italian national team.
