Former Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly expressed suspicions about Juventus’ players using performance-enhancing drugs during his tenure in Italy. Desailly, who spent five seasons at AC Milan, observed Juventus winning the Serie A title on three occasions during that period. He and his teammates began to raise concerns when they noticed the significant physical transformations some players underwent after joining Juventus.

In an interview with Boyle Sports last month, Desailly stated, “We had a suspicion Juventus had an unfair advantage. There were some players, I don’t want to name them, who were very agile and strong. After the first year they arrived at Juventus, you realized they had changed completely.”

Desailly acknowledged the physicality of Juventus players, attributing it to creatine usage and intensive gym work. However, he also noted that physical prowess alone was insufficient for success in football, emphasizing the importance of skill and positioning.

Despite his suspicions, Juventus was never charged with any wrongdoing, and Desailly now believes his concerns may have been misplaced, as he recognized the multifaceted nature of success in football.
