Jurgen Klopp is sure that Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool, should not have been dismissed against Newcastle United, and he revealed why he first refrained from celebrating Darwin Nunez’s incredible injury-time winner.

Sunday afternoon’s Premier League match included many of incidents, but the 10-man Reds rallied from behind to win 2-1 thanks to two late goals from Nunez, who came on as a substitute.

After tackling Newcastle attacker Alexander Isak on the edge of the box, Van Dijk was awarded a straight red card on minute 28. The VAR team did not request that referee John Brooks reconsider his judgement.

The Dutchman will now be unable to play for Liverpool against Aston Villa at home on Sunday since it was the team’s second straight game with a red card.

However, Klopp asserted, “I don’t think that is a red card; there is hardly any touch at all. What, then, can I say? I am unable to alter the choice because it has been made. I do not desire it.

Would I whistle it in a workout? Definitely not, but there are reasons both why they and I are referees.
