Moments after Darwin Nunez’s two-goal barrage saved all three points for Liverpool against Newcastle United, Virgil van Dijk couldn’t contain his joy as he welcomed Nunez into the away locker room.

At St James’ Park during the opening period, the Dutchman tripped the Swede as he was advancing on goal after a possession tussle with Magpies attacker Alexander Isak.

However, the Reds battled to overturn Anthony Gordon’s first-half goal as Nunez, who was brought off the bench with 13 minutes left in regulation, blasted two precise shots past Nick Pope to complete an incredible comeback for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

The Uruguayan was welcomed by an overjoyed Van Dijk who was waiting outside of Liverpool’s locker room after the celebrations from Alisson, Nunez, and Klopp on the St James’ Park grass came to an end.

The defender yelled, “COME ON,” and then embraced Nunez warmly before quickly doing the same with Joe Gomez and Alexis MacAllister.
