The 21-year-old striker’s comeback has not yet been decided by the Premier League club.
According to TV host Rachel Riley, if player Mason Greenwood stays at Manchester United, she will cease being a fan of the team.
Since January of last year, the club has suspended the 21-year-old striker due to claims involving a woman after pictures and videos were uploaded online.
Following the revelation of the allegations, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropped the allegations in February of this year, and the club immediately began an internal probe.
After finishing the “fact-finding phase,” Manchester United confirmed on Wednesday that they were “working through the final stages” of their internal inquiry into Greenwood.
Riley, a 37-year-old co-presenter on Countdown, posted on X (previously Twitter) that if the forward stays at the club, she “won’t be able to support” United.
Less than 1% of rapes reported to the police result in conviction, she added, citing VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls).
“Enough has been seen and heard, I think. Part of the issue would be pretending that everything is fine.
It would be disastrous for my club to contribute to a culture that wipes this under the rug and sends a message to offenders everywhere that you can continue to act whatever you choose without facing any repercussions, the speaker said.
