Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has expanded his pool of goaltending choices by bringing in David Raya from Brentford. Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich were rivals for the Spain gloveman, but the Gunners prevailed. At Emirates Stadium, the former Blackburn Rovers player will give England international Aaron Ramsdale more competition.

Goalkeeper David Raya has been acquired by Arsenal from Brentford, another Premier League team.

Major transfer rumors around the Spaniard surfaced throughout the summer, but Bayern Munich and Arsenal’s rivals in North London, Tottenham, were unable to secure a deal.

It had been claimed that Brentford’s rumored £40 million asking price turned away Spurs and Bayern.

Raya notified Brentford of his wish to go, and the Gunners were able to close the transaction.

Raya can now move across London for at least one season with the option in the contract to make it permanent after Arsenal completed the paperwork of the season-long loan transfer.
