Cristiano Ronaldo of Al Nassr stated the Saudi Pro League is “better” than MLS and that he has no ambitions to play in the US or return to a European club.
Ronaldo was speaking to the media following Al Nassr’s 5-0 preseason loss against LaLiga side Celta Vigo in his home Portugal.

“The Saudi league is better than MLS,” the Portugal star stated when asked about joining Lionel Messi, his old adversary in Spain, who was announced as an Inter Miami CF player on Sunday.

Ronaldo, who was replaced at halftime with the score 0-0, continued, “I opened the way to the Saudi league, and now all the players are coming here.”

Several high-profile players have already followed Ronaldo’s lead this summer, with Karim Benzema, Marcelo Brozovic, N’Golo Kante, and Roberto Firmino all securing deals to play in the Saudi Pro League. Brozovic, a former Inter Milan player who joined Al Nassr on July 3, was on the pitch with Ronaldo on Monday.

“In a year’s time, more and more top players will arrive in Saudi Arabia.” The Saudi league will eclipse the Turkish and Dutch leagues in a year,” Ronaldo predicted.
