Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United is a target for Manchester City.

The Brazilian joined the Hammers from Lyon for £36.5 million last summer and helped the team win the Europa Conference League.

City have made an initial contact to West Ham but have yet to make a formal proposal.
They may put West Ham’s resolve to the test as Pep Guardiola attempts to boost his team following last season’s Treble victory and the exits of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez.
West Ham do not want to sell and will be wary of losing another vital member of David Moyes’ team following Declan Rice’s £105 million move to Arsenal.

Their case is bolstered by the fact that Paqueta has four years remaining on the deal he signed last summer.

Guardiola remarked on their Asia trip, following Mahrez’s move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, “We’ll see if we need wingers or inside players.”

If Paqueta signs, City may utilize Bernardo Silva as a right winger, like they did at the conclusion of their Treble-winning season.

Phil Foden, Kevin de Bruyne, Julian Alvarez, and summer arrival Mateo Kovacic may all play there, with Paqueta providing midfield alternatives beside them.
