Croatian model Ivana Knoll made the trip to Qatar to cheer on her country’s national team. She represented her country during the opening game at the Al Bayt Stadium against Morocco by donning a long dress in its colors. Even her head was covered by the dress, which had a plunging neckline.
For the match against Canada at the Khalifa International Stadium, she sported a short, low-cut dress that exposed her shoulders and further emphasized her body.
In the past, the Qatar tourism board had issued the following advice to visitors: “Visitors are expected to show respect for the local culture by avoiding excessively revealing clothing in public. In general, it is advised that both men and women cover their shoulders and knees.
During a recent interview, Ivana confirmed:
“The locals confirmed to me that I can wear whatever I want. But I didn’t know that my video in a bikini walking by the sea would be such a big deal. The whole country is speaking about it. Everybody knows me here, and I saw that I was accepted.
I was never afraid to be arrested to be what I am, and I don’t think I can hurt someone wearing a bikini. And if that deserves to be arrested, then arrest me.”
