The 28-year-old was named as a substitute for Barca’s opening La Liga match of the season on Saturday and played the final 25 minutes, suggesting he may not be central to Hansi Flick’s plans.
Barcelona is currently unable to register Dani Olmo, who joined from RB Leipzig, and needs to raise additional funds to integrate him into the squad. Since Christensen joined on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2022, selling him could generate profit and free up space on the wage bill, making it possible for Barca to register their new signing.
The report also notes that Christensen has attracted interest from Premier League clubs, with Newcastle being recently linked. Last week, Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona would seek around €30 million (£26m/$33m) for his transfer.
With just over a week remaining in the transfer window, Barcelona must finalize a deal for Christensen if they intend to sell him.
