Paris Saint-Germain is exploring a dramatic relocation, potentially building a $1 billion stadium outside Paris. The club’s long-standing desire to expand the Parc des Princes is hindered by city authorities, as PSG does not own the ground and currently pay £1.5 million annually in rent to Paris City Hall.
PSG’s owners, Qatar Sports Investments, previously offered to invest up to £370 million in the stadium, only if ownership could be secured. With Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo refusing to sell, PSG are now focused on two potential new sites: Massy, to the south, and Poissy, west of the capital near their training base.
A plan is already in development for Poissy, featuring a proposed 90,000-seat stadium on land owned by Stellantis, with costs projected at over £740 million. The club also envisions a surrounding real estate development, following models like the SoFi Stadium in the U.S. PSG stresses that stadium ownership is essential for financial growth and European competitiveness.
