N’Golo Kante is reportedly set to join Al-Hilal on a short-term loan from Al-Ittihad to participate in the upcoming Club World Cup. The revamped 32-team tournament kicks off on June 15 in the United States.
Kante, 34, currently plays for Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad but will move to Al-Hilal, the only Saudi team in the competition. The transfer is facilitated by the fact that both clubs are owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Newcastle United. Kante will reunite with former Chelsea teammate Kalidou Koulibaly at Al-Hilal, alongside stars like Joao Cancelo, Ruben Neves, and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Al-Hilal is placed in Group H with Real Madrid, RB Salzburg, and Pachuca. The move underscores Al-Hilal’s ambitions, following their failed bid to sign Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, who rejected a £200m contract to stay in Europe.
