Arsenal’s pursuit of Benjamin Sesko is under serious threat as Saudi champions Al-Hilal prepare a last-minute swoop for the RB Leipzig striker. The Gunners identified Sesko as their top summer target, recently initiating talks with Leipzig, who are demanding close to £70 million for the Slovenian forward. However, Arsenal have yet to place an official bid.

With the FIFA Club World Cup looming, Al-Hilal, desperate for a marquee striker after failing to land Victor Osimhen, is ready to move today, ahead of the 7 pm registration deadline. The Saudi club, which saw Osimhen reject a £650,000-a-week deal, now views Sesko as a prime alternative.

Sesko, 21, scored 21 goals in 45 appearances last season, attracting attention from top European clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had prioritised the towering 6ft 5in striker as the club’s new No. 9, but Al-Hilal’s financial muscle could derail the transfer.
