Jonathan Tah is set to make his long-anticipated switch to Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich side once his contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires this summer, according to Sky Sport. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern may need to reach a financial agreement with Leverkusen to bring him in ahead of the Club World Cup.
The German centre-back is expected to sign a four-year contract and will undergo his medical next week. Bayern had previously tried to secure his services last year, but Tah chose to remain at Leverkusen at the time. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona had also shown interest in the 29-year-old defender.
Tah, who joined Leverkusen from Hamburg a decade ago, played a pivotal role in helping the club secure their historic first Bundesliga title. Alongside manager Xabi Alonso, he is among several key figures set to depart this summer. Florian Wirtz is also expected to leave, reportedly turning down Bayern’s approach in favour of a move to Liverpool.
Bayern are expected to remain active in the transfer market, with Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma emerging as a potential target to fill the creative gap left by Wirtz.
