The sudden dismissal of Ednaldo Rodrigues—key figure behind Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment—raised questions about whether the Italian coach would still lead the Brazilian national team. However, recent developments have reassured that Brazil remains committed to its plan to bring in the Real Madrid boss.

As reported by AS, Fernando Sarney, now serving as interim president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) after Rodrigues’ removal, personally contacted Ancelotti to reaffirm the federation’s dedication to the agreement. Support for Ancelotti’s hiring spans across both political factions within the CBF and has backing from government figures as well.

“This decision isn’t mine, but I have no intention of changing it,” Sarney told the press. “It’s been well-received, and the public approves—there’s no reason to alter the course.”

Even before officially stepping into the role, Ancelotti has developed strong ties with key members of the Brazil squad. His existing relationship with Real Madrid stars Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo—viewed as the national team’s next-generation leaders—has further strengthened his case. Additionally, veteran players like Neymar and Casemiro have reportedly reached out to express their support for Ancelotti’s appointment.

Ancelotti is set to arrive in Brazil on May 26, after Real Madrid wraps up their La Liga season against Real Sociedad. His first official matches will be against Ecuador on June 5 and Paraguay on June 11.
