Kylian Mbappe lasted only 38 minutes in Real Madrid’s La Liga clash against Alaves on Sunday, after receiving a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Antonio Blanco. The French forward leaped into the tackle and accidentally stamped on Blanco’s leg, leaving him in visible pain.
According to AS, Mbappe immediately apologized to his teammates for putting them at a disadvantage with 10 men for the remaining 60 minutes. The 25-year-old took full responsibility for his actions and expressed deep frustration with his behavior on the pitch. Despite the setback, Real Madrid managed to hold on to Eduardo Camavinga’s 34th-minute goal, securing a 1-0 victory.
Blanco, after the match, revealed that Mbappe had personally apologized to him, stating: “It was a strong tackle, I spoke with Kylian, he apologized and there is no problem, these things happen in football.”
Mbappe is now set to serve a three-match suspension but will still be available for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26.
