Helar Gonzales Altamirano, a 21-year-old Peruvian footballer, tragically passed away after suffering a fatal head injury during a Copa Peru match. The Real Titan NC midfielder collided with the opposing goalkeeper while chasing a long ball, rupturing an artery in his head.
He was stretchered off unconscious in the 70th minute and later died in hospital in Moyobamba. His father, Jose, witnessed the incident from the sidelines. Helar’s brother Eliceo confirmed his passing on Wednesday, having earlier asked for prayers on social media.
The Peruvian Football Federation and Real Titan NC expressed their condolences, praising Helar’s passion for football and devotion to his family. The club shared footage of his coffin being transported and a tribute video of his goals. His funeral will take place on Friday. Helar had long dreamed of becoming a professional footballer, and his teammates are expected to dedicate future achievements in his honor.
