Manchester City captain Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly considering a move to Major League Soccer as he approaches the end of his contract this summer. The 33-year-old Belgian international, who has also attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, appears to prefer a switch to the United States, with San Diego being a potential destination.
San Diego, the newest MLS club, has a designated player slot available but is concerned about De Bruyne’s high wage demands. Sporting director Tyler Heaps admitted to holding talks with De Bruyne’s agent but dismissed the rumors of an imminent move. Heaps acknowledged the player’s fondness for the area, where he regularly vacations.
However, Heaps also stated that his wage expectations are currently beyond the club’s budget. San Diego, which played its first-ever game in February, remains unbeaten and sits second in the MLS Western Conference. Whether De Bruyne will make the move to America remains uncertain.
