Crawley Town has sacked manager Rob Elliot just five months after his appointment, as the club faces a severe relegation struggle. The 38-year-old former Premier League goalkeeper leaves with Crawley sitting 12 points away from safety in League One.

Under Elliot’s management, the club played 33 matches, winning only six and losing 19. The club released a brief statement expressing gratitude for Elliot’s efforts and wishing him well in future endeavors. Louis Storey has been appointed as interim head coach, with Anthony Sweeney as interim assistant.

Elliot’s managerial role at Crawley was his second after previously managing Gateshead, where he also played. The former keeper had a 20-year playing career with Charlton, Newcastle, and Watford, making 68 appearances during nine years at Newcastle. He also earned four caps for the Republic of Ireland before retiring last year.
