Newcastle United has extended an olive branch to former directors Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi by inviting them to the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. The couple left St James’ Park last summer amid claims of being forced out and sold their six percent stake to the club’s majority owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and the Reuben family.

Despite their departure, Staveley remains highly regarded for her role in brokering the £305 million takeover from previous owner Mike Ashley in late 2021. Jamie Reuben, part of the ownership group, is understood to have invited the couple to the final as a gesture of goodwill, demonstrating their positive relationship with the club.

The invitation also extends to other family members. Since leaving Newcastle, Staveley has been involved with Qatari investors who are interested in acquiring a stake in Tottenham. Newcastle United, seeking its first major trophy in 70 years, heads into the final against Arne Slot’s side with six days of rest following their Premier League win over West Ham.
