Jadon Sancho’s future remains uncertain despite his season-long loan move from Manchester United to Chelsea. The 24-year-old winger joined the Blues last summer after falling out of favor at United. His loan deal includes an obligation to buy if Chelsea finishes 14th or higher in the Premier League, with a transfer fee ranging from £22m to £25m.
Despite making 26 appearances and scoring two goals for Chelsea, Sancho has yet to agree on personal terms with the club. Reports suggest Chelsea could back out of the deal and send him back to Manchester United, where he still has 18 months left on his £250,000-a-week contract.
If Chelsea withdraws from the agreement, they will face a significant penalty fine. Alternatively, Chelsea could complete the transfer and sell Sancho to another club. United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently criticized the club’s spending, highlighting the incomplete £17m payment to Dortmund for Sancho this summer.
