Arsenal has been fined £65,000 by the FA for failing to control their players after Myles Lewis-Skelly’s controversial red card against Wolves on January 25. The Gunners were furious when Lewis-Skelly was sent off for a foul on Matt Doherty, leading at least eight players to confront referee Michael Oliver in protest.
The FA charged Arsenal five days later, and an independent Regulatory Commission has now imposed the fine. The decision was based on Oliver’s report and video evidence, confirming that Arsenal players acted improperly in the 43rd minute. The club admitted the charge but defended their players, stating their reactions were emotional but not aggressive.
Manager Mikel Arteta was left furious despite Arsenal securing a 1-0 victory. The red card was later overturned on appeal, with Lewis-Skelly’s three-match suspension rescinded after the dismissal was deemed wrongful.
