Arsenal fan Nathan Shaw, 51, was shocked to learn that the two tickets he purchased for £350 were originally complimentary seats allocated to Gabriel Martinelli. The tickets, meant for Arsenal’s away match at Leicester City, were marked as “Player Complimentary.”
A club official later informed Nathan that the tickets were assigned to the injured Brazilian forward but were instead placed in a central pool and given to a contractor. The contractor then passed them on, leading to their sale on Livefootballtickets for £175 each. Nathan, a season ticket holder, had failed to secure tickets through Arsenal’s official allocation and turned to the resale site.
Nathan was instructed to collect them at Leicester’s stadium, where he noticed their origin. While there is no suggestion of wrongdoing by Martinelli, who did not travel for the match, the situation raises concerns about the resale of complimentary tickets. Arsenal and Livefootballtickets have yet to comment on the matter.
