Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has joined Crystal Palace on loan for the remainder of the season. The Blues agreed to pay half of his £190,000-per-week wages, meaning both clubs will contribute £95,000 each until his contract expires on June 30.
Chilwell, 28, expressed excitement about the move, highlighting Palace’s positive direction and strong performances in recent months. Palace chairman Steve Parish welcomed the signing, emphasizing Chilwell’s experience at the highest level. The left-back had been informed last summer that he had no future at Chelsea under new manager Enzo Maresca.
Since then, he has played just 45 minutes of football, featuring only in a Carabao Cup match against Barrow in September. Chelsea initially loaned Trevoh Chalobah to Palace last summer but recalled him two weeks ago due to a defensive shortage. Chilwell, who joined Chelsea from Leicester for £45 million in 2020, will now look to revive his career at Selhurst Park.
