Manchester United are in discussions to sign Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey before the January transfer window closes. The move would be separate from Marcus Rashford’s loan transfer to Villa for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. Rashford’s exit has left a gap in United’s attack, which they are looking to fill.

While talks have yet to progress significantly, Ineos reportedly prefers an initial loan deal for Bailey. The 27-year-old has been a key player for Villa but is not a guaranteed starter under Unai Emery. He has started 13 of 23 Premier League matches this season and featured prominently in the Champions League.

Bailey, who joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, has scored 21 goals in 134 appearances. His strong performances last season helped Villa secure Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Rashford will complete his Villa medical on Sunday, with the club covering 70% of his wages and holding a £40 million buy option.
